This isnt the first edition. It's a late boxed edition. You can see it clearly on the disk label copyright. The first edition has a copyright of 1979. The manual appears to be the "boxed" manual. But i am not 100% sure.

This is the first release of the game and was probably sold without a box. There is no reference to the name 'Epyx'.
